Let me introduce to you the Hotshot Honey's. The Honey's are a group of the wives and girlfriends of the Cedar City Hotshots, a wildland fire crew. The name started as our bowling league name, and if you must know we gave up on the league after one week :)

Our group includes Lea Betty,

Amy Nicholes,

Stacy Michaelsen,

and yours truly!

....and Pammy Cakes Allen who wasn't able to vacate with us :/

We decided over a year ago that we would go on a Hotshot Honey cruise! When it finally arrived it was hard to believe because it had always been so far in the future!

Stacy picked us up on Sunday (the boys got home the night before we left... of course) and off we were to Vegas in our matching shirts!

We took a red eye flight from Vegas to LA, then onto Miami. I managed to wake up with my head on a strangers shoulder and his head on mine. Um awkward! But it was all better when I offered him some gum.

We got into Miami early and went exploring and goofed off...

The minute we got on the ship we didn't bother checking it all out, we went straight to some lounge chairs and took ourselves the first of many random naps in random locations.

At our dinner table there was a couple from San Fransisco, Robert and Nichole and Robert's mother Janette? She was from England and so cute! They quickly became our good friends and excursion guru's!

The girls quickly found out that I not only talk in my sleep, I also stare...

The next day we were at sea all day. So what did we do? A whole lot of nothing!!! We slept in late, got our bathing suits on and went back to sleep, this time in the sun! Of course there was some swimming and eating in between naps.

We also checked out the comedians and acted like dorks all day...

That night was our dress up night.

One of the photographers loved flirting with us gals. We heard things like: "get on the floor like you did last night baby" and "penetrate! ...I mean concentrate!" Bye the time we got done with all the crazy positions he had us in... we had an audience who gave us a round of applause.

1st Stop: Grand Turk!

This place was beautiful!!

We didn't have very long at this port so we did a little bit of shopping, then hung out at a sweet pool that was connected to Margaritaville,

where we ate lunch before heading back to the ship.

Then back to the ship for some more food!!

Stop #2 Half Moon Cay!

To get to this private island we had to take a boat....

and it was on this boat that we learned something very, very important.....

Wow!! Crystal clear, bright blue water... we had arrived in paradise...

We spent the entire day either playing in the water or walking along the beach gathering shells. We met a lot of people from the ship. We explored the island a little... but mostly we were trying to find the pirates who had abandoned their ship!

Stacy and I wanted to practice our patient care skills so we can apply to the first aid clinic on Half Moon Cay.

Stop #3 Nassau.

When we were eating breakfast Nassau looked just as beautiful as the other two stops.

When we got off the boat however, it wasn't so beautiful. The locals are everywhere haggling you to buy this, I'll take you here, let me tell you why you need this tour... and how about some weed?!

When our wandering around town was getting a little sketchy....

We decided to give in to the guided tour.

Our guide told us a lot of interesting things about the Island and the people who reside there.

We stopped at Fort Fincastle

and the Queen's Staircase.

He then took us out to Atlantis.

It was a beautiful resort... I couldn't believe we were on the same island!!

The next and final stop was the beach. The short time we were there we mostly gathered shells while Stacy played in the water.

That night we thanked our waiter the best way we knew how to...

he told us to quit teasing him and kiss him for real!

It was hard to say goodbye to the Bahamas, but I feel lucky to have visited that part of the world to see how beautiful it was!

Viva Las.... Venetian!

Charise and I got to talking about going to Vegas together while we were out hiking one day. That same day I found out that Charise is a secret travel agent! We had that trip planned and booked at none other than the Venetian!!!! That's right, the Venetian!!!! And I have the pictures to prove it!

We spent the first day shopping, taking a guided tour of our suite (okay, not officially), and dinner at Gonzales & Gonzales! Yum!

That night we went to see the Blue Man Group! Wow! It was phenominal!! After one of the blue men was chasing Charise around taking her picture with some random guys camera, and trying to hold her hand! It was great!

The next morning we woke up happy because we really were staying at the Venetian, it wasn't just a dream!!! So we headed down to the pool where we our cabana's were waiting for us...

Well, someday we will have cabana's!Then it was more shopping and people watching before we had to head back to reality :/ It was a short trip, but well worth every minute!!

Bonneville or Bust!

This August the gang (Dad, Cory, Nate, Lisa, and me) headed up to Bonneville Speed Week!

We met up with our some of our most favorite people in the world, The Hansen's: Steve, Carrie, and Seth

Salt, Sun, and Hot rods everywhere you look! Pretty much heaven on earth! Bonneville is like being in another world...

....you can drive where ever you want and as fast as you want.. (this is Seth's truck and guess who got to drive it?!? Oooo! Me!)

...a place where you ride your bike right alongside the traffic and have a conversation with the person driving next to you (ahem! Papa John)..

...where you have a front row seat at the take off line, or stand right in between the race cars as they take off

...the place hot rodders tell you to quit lookin' at their ride and to jump on in!

...the place where you get sunburned from the above and below...

...it's a place that you're amazed that someone can actually fall asleep?

Most importantly it's a place you can enjoy friends & family, beautiful cars, and be in awe. Can't wait for Speed Week 2012!!!

These Keen's are made for hikin'...and that's just what they'll do!

I love hiking. There is nothing like seeing what is hidden around you and you feel like you're on top of the world when you can look all the way across the valley.

My friend Charise and I, after much hesitancy, finally convinced ourselves to go hike the C-trail and now have become hiking fools!

There have been a couple of other hiking pals that I've been able to hike with this summer... but none that can gab quite like Charise and I!

The C-trail was of course our first defeat. The first week we got close to the top, but were not aware how close! The next week we decided we were going to conquer that beast, and after 5 hours of hiking we did! Luckily there were some nice scout masters at the bottom who made their scouts get us some water. We must have looked like we were dying.

Then there was the Blowhard trail! Beautiful and green with great views of Cedar Breaks...by the name you would never guess that.

I also did this hike with Ned, my co-worker, one evening. It was fun and he even brought snacks :)

(way to adhere to the sign Ned! I'd hate for you to just have to close the gate after you went through it...)

Kanarra Falls Hike. Wow should about describe it, but if you must have details... it is like hiking in the desert and rainforest all at the same time. It is all around amazing! I hiked this one with one of my cute x-ray students, Kelli.

And the Razorback trail! This one is as adventurous as they come! On this particular day we ended up hiking pretty much the full length of Cedar. Up and down, this way and that! It was a blast!

San Funsisco!

It happened. I somehow got Trevor on vacation. Look how happy he was about it....

and we didn't just go to some low key place...we went to San Fransisco.

I knew it was going to be an interesting trip with Trevor and Josh's quirky comments and certain phobias. And Trevor proved me right by gawking at the guy across the aisle from us the entire flight.

My sister in law, Hailie, has an awesome Uncle who let us stay at his home with him and his cute little doggie Quirk. It was interesting to see how the houses are laid out, or up rather, in San Fransisco. The view from Dennis' home was spectacular!! If only my camera would have done the view justice!

The first day we set out for some landscape sight seeing. We stopped and got some liquid energy and then proceeded to drive North across the Golden Gate Bridge, up the coast along some very winding roads. Other than being incredibly car sick it was a beautiful drive!

We decided to pull off onto a road that had a look out over the ocean. This seemed to be a great idea at the time. However, it had been raining sooooo much that we were pretty much driving through a stream when BAM!!! We hit a huge pothole (we think) and the great liquid energy we had purchased to drink, we now were wearing...and so was the rental car! Oooppps!

The next part of our adventure was Point Reyes. Normally people watch for whales at Point Reyes, Hailie and I found the cows more fascinating.

There was a great lighthouse there. Please note the stairs down to the lighthouse. Before your jump to the conclusion that vacations are all about fun and relaxation.. keep in mind we had to hike back up these stairs (all 338. yes, for real) which were equivalent to Hailie and I almost PUKING.

Our next stop? The beautiful Muir Woods.

That evening Hailie had tickets to a popular musical in downtown. While I found it strange, but interesting... Trevor was not at all amused. He mouthed the words "What the heck" as soon as the play started. Just to give you all a preview....

The next day we spent at fishermans wharf. We shopped, rode the trolley cars, and most importantly.. had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl!

We also stopped by Ghirradeli Square where Trevor and I bought $20 worth of chocolate and I learned an important lesson: You can take hot rods away from the girl, but you can't keep the girl away from the hot rods.

It was a short but sweet vacation. And remember that pothole? Turns out it scratched the bumper on the rental car... and that topped off the weekend and Josh and Hailies insurance!

The Mormon Triplets on Skis!

I am lucky enough to have the bestest cousins ever! Tara and Kasey who are two of my best friends came to visit me and go skiing this week. Although the snow was a bit icy, the sun was out and Tara didn't even have a yard sale this time!

I love these gals and although I was sad to see them go it's probably best that they did because I might have gained 10 lbs in the two days they were here! :)

Hot Fun in The Winter Sun

A few months ago a few of us were speculating at work about fun winter activities that would also keep us in shape. We got talking about going snow shoeing, winter runs and mini triathalons. As fun as these plans are that we make, most often we don't seem to follow through.

However! The next week I noticed in my Costco coupons they had snow shoe sets on for $80. No way!! So Jayne and I ordered them up and we rounded up the girls and set a date to go play...

With the four of us, this was no boring adventure. Once we finally got our equipment figured out we explored the area and roasted in our over prepared outfits. We found abandoned and ransacked trailers,random sleds left behind, outhouses, etc.

After a super steep incline we managed to configure with our snow shoes a successful way to slide on our butts back down the super steep incline. Props go to Brook who figured it out the best and tried to run me over at full speed.

We ended the day with lunch and laughs. Can't wait until next time!

It's The Holiday Season...

Happy Holiday's everyone!

Trevor and I hosted our first ever party this year with our Hot Shots and Hot Shot Honey friends.

Our friends came in their best and worst Christmas attire (I give you the option as I offended the lady who worked at Walmart while I was buying my sweater).

We ate lots of awesome food, and then of course came the white elephant gifts...
Our white elephant gifts consisted of whips, bedazzlers, and hand made t-shirts.

Trev and I both ended up with pajama's per Pam and Stew. These are no ordinary pajamas..these are the ones we used to wear as kids that have the feet on them. I never thought I would see the day that Trevor raced to the bedroom to put on Eeyore pajamas to model for everyone. But it happened and I can prove it:

Vegas Ultrasound Conference with a Little Extra!

Nancy and I are two of the five ultrasound techs at our hospital. We recently went to an ultrasound conference down in Vegas. We learned a lot at our conference, but the real life lessons happened outside of the conference :) Let me explain...

Vegas Life Lesson #1: No matter how cool the hotel is, it is definately not going to be the most interesting thing you see in Vegas... (even if there is a Rat Rod in the hotel)

Vegas Life Lesson #2: Waiting too long to eat will cause you to order a sandwich as big as your head... but you're hungry so you will finish it without question as to why you are letting your friend take pictures of the mermaid behind you

Vegas Life Lesson #3: don't think you are being nice by telling your friend to take a picture with the guy in costume because he will charge her for doing so

Vegas Life Lesson #4: If a guy asks you, "Hey if I get fired from my job can I hang out with you guys all day?!" Don't casually answer, "Sure". This will only cause him to yell, "I quit! I quit!"

Vegas Life Lesson #5: You can spend hours in a souvenier shop without spending a dime!!

Vegas Life Lesson #6: Don't get upset when you see a celebrity only to find out they are just a cardboard cut-out.

Vegas Life Lesson #7: In Vegas you do NOT have to keep your mind out of the gutter..it's impossible... (I apologize if these pictures offend anyone, and if they do.. please don't go to Vegas)

Vegas Life Lesson #8: If you get bored in Vegas it's your own fault. There are plenty of extra curricular activities.

Social Distortion is my most favorite band. I decided that if they ever came in concert we were going no matter what. One day as I was browsing online I noticed that they were going to be on tour! Hooray!! And where were they starting this tour? Salt Lake City of course. It was a sign...

You may find yourself asking "who is Social Distortion?" Well scroll down to my music player and click on one of their songs, if it's not on one already. Yes... this is bliss to your ears I know.

This is an action shot of us on our way to SLC to meet up with Cory, Nate and Lisa. After searching for Apollo Burger for an hour.. we ate what would make us all very sick later on and headed for The Great Salt Air.

It was a fun night of laughing at people's outfits, watching the too crazy's get thrown out, enjoying hanging out with each other and listening to some sick music. Thank you Mike Ness for putting on an excellent show!

The Bathroom Makeover :)

After being in our house six years now and slowly making little changes here and there... we couldn't stand the ugly linoleum in the bathrooms any more! My awesome brother Nate came down here to embark on a project that he had no idea what it entailed! he he he...

We decided to tear out our shower insert and do a tile shower. It sounds simple right? That's what we all thought! We ended up with re-insulating, sheetrocking, drywalling etc.

Nate ended up with a heck of a lot more than he bargained for, but we ended up with two beautiful bathrooms!! We are so happy with how the shower and floors turned out. If anyone needs a good tile guy... Nate is awesome! :)

It is the holiday season!

Trevor HATES the holidays... even Thanksgiving! (Who hates Thanksgiving?!) I, who am a holiday lover, have to survive each holiday season living with the grinch who would love to steal Christmas so that it never returns.

But I must say he looks pretty good in green...

We, well actually I, would like to wish you all happy holidays!! Enjoy them whether you live with a Grinch or not!!

Back to the 50's

This past Wednesday I took my Ultrasound physics boards and passed!! I wanted to have something fun planned with my family to celebrate having it over with. We decided to do a How to Host a Murder Dinner set in the 1950's. This seemed to be the perfect theme for our family, since we are into old cars, oldies music, and almost anything vintage!

The scene was set at a malt shop, so we decorated my mom's kitchen to look like a 50's diner complete with Elvis as the background music.

Everyone was assigned a character. Some of the descriptions seemed to fit perfectly and everyone else played their character to the fullest.

Dad's character was Joseph K. Awledge ("Joe College") he was the business man and manager of the murder victim.

Mom's character was Prisilla E. Teene ("Pristeen") she was a valedictorian and little miss smarty pants. My mom took this character and played it right up.

Nate was Richard C. Alctrient ("Rickalictrient" meaning rebellious. Nate preffered to be called Dick however). Rick was a guitarist who was in the band with the murder victim. His character description read "he liked both his cars and women fast and hot... we thought this fit Nate to a tee."

Lisa's character was Evelyn C. Leigh ("E.C. Leigh") and fit perfectly with the blond wig she chose to wear! She was a cheerleader who had a child with the murder victim.

Ryan's character for the night was Delbert Toydes ("Deltoids"). He was the star sport hero of the highschool.

Tenille was the sweet but slightly evil Penelope Loafer ("Penny Loafer"). She was the murder victims twin sister and heir to her fathers fortune.

Cory was Calvin Q. Layder ("Calculator"). He was the genious as well as the class clown. He ended up being the mystery murderer! Dun dun dun...

I was Dierde(Dee) C. Deucer ("Seducer"). I was the ex girlfriend of the victim and an undercover FBI agent.

It was such a fun night and we all ended having a lot of fun! It was a great way to get in the Halloween spirit, and we have begun a new tradition.

Our Fluffy Child

Our dog is an Alaskan Malamute whose name is Chena. Chena is not so much a dog.. but mine and Trevor's child. I have never been an animal person, but our fluffy monster has us wrapped around her paw. Here are the top ten reasons Chena is more like our child than a pet.

#10:We spend way more on her at the grocery store than we do on our groceries.

#9: When Trevor is home and sitting at the computer, Chena jumps right on his lap. For a normal, small dog this is normal.. however for our huge ball of fluff, this is quite the phenomenon. Trevor taught Chena to do this, but was wishing he hadn't when he had poison oak. :)

#8: If Chena is wound up from not enough attention, Trevor will take her on a ride in the jeep around town to calm her down.

#7: Chena is like a bully/spoiled child. She has figured just how to be a little stinker. She will ignore a toy for months until Josh's (Trev's brother) dog Nala is interested in that toy. All of the sudden it's Chena's favorite toy. She has also found that if she gets a running start to jumping on me, it will knock me over.

#6: Chena often ends up in our bed in the middle of the night.... right smack in-between Trevor and I.

#5: On Christmas Chena not only gets presents from us, but from both sets of grandparents. Trevor's mom even made her a blanket one year.

#4: When she does something bad, Trevor's excuse for not getting after her is, "but look at that face!"

#3: When we end up grabbing fast food, we have to get extra hamburger for Chena. She usually ends up with a kids meal, complete with the toy. :)

#2: It is a rough start to the morning if I do not pour her a bowl of cereal while I am having my breakfast. And don't even think about giving her dry cereal unless you want a very angry dog.

#1: If she doesn't get her way, she can throw a mean temper tantrum. These tantrums include throwing herself onto her back and kicking her arms and legs while yelling. This is true... just ask the dog trainer. :)

Las Vegas 2009

I'm new to the blogging world...but I guess you have to keep up with the Jones' sometime!
I just returned from Las Vegas on a little get-away with my sister, Tenille. We went for just two days, but packed it with about four days worth of fun and laughs!

Cory flew down to St. George with Tenille and we went to Village Inn for a great greasy start to the day!

Here are the top ten things I learned from my trip to Vegas:

10. Never go to Vegas without three containers of Bear Mace, a compass, walking shoes, a map, and camera.

9. Understand that there will be plenty of men there who are wearing more pink than you, and it is DEFINATELY a competition of who can wear it better

8. If you are in Vegas, at a Cantina then yes, your waiter will give you a tongue lashing for not ordering a drink

7. If you are sober and you walk into a womens restroom and see a man in there questioning why you are there... remind him that you are the sober one and HE is the one in the wrong bathroom. But wait until he is finished urinating if he is already in the process

6. If you are embarrased just taking pictures by the Chippendales posters then it's probably best not to go to the actual show!

5. If you act like you're 5, it doesn't matter if you're drinking or not... people will assume you are drunk.

4.Never go to Vegas to get away from men... because you will only come home more irritated and skeptical of any sort of staring

3. Don't try and buy condoms from a restroom vending machine just because they are funny... the gas station will be completely out of them.

2.Under no circumstances should you accept a marriage proposal from an old man, even if he mentions "8 billion dollars"

1.If you purchase comedy tickets that require you to be over the age of 18... realize that its perfectly acceptable for the comedian to wear nothing but tighty-whitey underwear and thrust his "junk" in your face.
